Venus Williams Receives Wild Card for the Cincinnati Open

The legendary tennis player Venus Williams continues her return to professional tennis, and the good news doesn’t stop. After her participation in the DC Open, Williams has been awarded a wild card to compete in the Cincinnati Open, which will be held next month. Williams, 45, is participating in his first tournament in over a year this week at the DC Open, where he has shown his relevance by winning first-round matches in both singles and doubles. Her victory over 23-year-old Peyton Stearns on Tuesday night made her the second-oldest woman to win a singles match at the tour level. Martina Navratilova achieved her last singles victory at the age of 47, in 2004. Williams boasts an impressive track record that includes seven individual Grand Slam titles, five at Wimbledon and two at the US Open, as well as 14 doubles titles alongside her sister Serena, and two in mixed doubles. At the DC Open, she will face Magdalena Frech of Poland on Thursday. The Cincinnati Open, which starts on August 5, will serve as preparation for the US Open, which is played on hard court. Caty McNally, the only player who took a set from champion Iga Swiatek at Wimbledon, also received an invitation to participate in Cincinnati.
