Venus Williams Receives Wild Card for US Open in Women’s Doubles
The legendary tennis player Venus Williams will participate in the women’s doubles draw of the US Open, thanks to a special invitation (wild card). The tournament organization announced this Tuesday the participation of Williams, who will partner with Leylah Fernandez, singles finalist in 2021.
This event marks Williams’ return to a Grand Slam tournament, after a two-year absence. The 45-year-old tennis player has been active on the professional circuit, resuming competition last month after a 16-month break.
Recently, Williams participated in mixed doubles and also competed in singles on Monday night.
