The tennis player Aryna Sabalenka continues her impressive streak in Wuhan, adding her twentieth consecutive victory in the tournament. This Friday, Sabalenka secured her place in the semifinals of the WTA 1000 tournament, after defeating Elena Rybakina, eighth seed, with a score of 6-3 and 6-3.
The current US Open champion demonstrated her superiority on the court, breaking Rybakina’s serve three times during the match, which lasted 1 hour and 25 minutes. Sabalenka, who already won the Wuhan Open title in 2018, 2019 and last year, showed great form, sealing her place in the semifinals for the eleventh time this season.
The world’s number one celebrated her victory with the public, sending greetings and kisses to the stands.
Coco Gauff Secures Semifinal Spot with Dominant Victory
Coco Gauff, the third seed, also advanced to the semifinals with a convincing victory over Laura Siegemund, with a score of 6-3 and 6-0. Gauff, who is looking to reach the final for the second consecutive time, had an outstanding performance in the match.
In the next phase, Gauff will face Iga Swiatek or Jasmine Paolini, who played in the afternoon match.
Jessica Pegula Fights to Secure Semifinals Spot
Jessica Pegula, sixth seed, also secured her place in the semifinals, although she had to give her all. Pegula defeated Katerina Siniakova with scores of 2-6, 6-0 and 6-3, in a match that extended to three sets.
Pegula has demonstrated her tenacity, after obtaining victories over Ekaterina Alexandrova and Hailey Baptiste in the previous matches.
