Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina led her country to the Billie Jean King Cup Finals for the first time in history, after defeating Jil Teichmann of Switzerland with a score of 6-4, 6-2. This victory tied the qualifying series between both nations, which was played on Saturday.
With this victory, Ukraine secured first place in Group E and its place in the tournament to be held in Shenzhen in September. Switzerland needed a perfect performance against Ukraine to advance, but ultimately the overall score favored Ukraine 2-1.
Spain also secured its qualification for the finals thanks to the outstanding performance of Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, who defeated Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic with a resounding 6-4, 6-2. This result gave Spain an insurmountable 2-0 lead in their match.
