Tsitsipas Reunites with His Father as Coach After Splitting with Ivanisevic

Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas has decided to work with his father, Apostolos, as his coach again, after ending his brief collaboration with Goran Ivanisevic, as announced by the player himself. Tsitsipas, 26, ended his partnership with Ivanisevic last week, after less than two months of working together. Ivanisevic, who previously collaborated with Novak Djokovic, helped the Serbian achieve nine of his 24 Grand Slam titles. The runner-up of the 2021 French Open and the 2023 Australian Open, has dropped to 30th place in the world ranking. In addition, he has failed to get past the second round in the first three Grand Slams of the season. After Tsitsipas’ elimination in the first round of Wimbledon, Ivanisevic offered a harsh critique of the Greek tennis player’s performance, stating that “he had never seen a player so unprepared” in his life. His victory at the Dubai tournament in February is the only final he has reached in 2025.

Tsitsipas’s social media post

Tsitsipas, who lost to Christopher O’Connell in the second round of the Canadian Open on Wednesday, shared his feelings on social media.

Some trips have the particularity of returning to the starting point. After some time apart, I have reunited with the person who first believed in me: my father.

The tennis player added: “I am grateful to share the court and the path ahead with him once more. We have lived together every chapter of this journey, and this next one feels good. Sometimes, going home is the boldest step.”
