Iga Swiatek continues to demonstrate her dominance in world tennis. The world number two from Poland secured her place in the third round of the US Open after defeating the Dutch player Suzan Lamens.

Swiatek, although she had an irregular performance, managed to win with scores of 6-1, 4-6 and 6-4. This victory marks her constant presence in the third round of all Grand Slam tournaments since 2020.

The last time Swiatek didn’t advance to the third round in a tournament of this category was at the 2019 US Open.

In the last 30 years, only Serena Williams and Amelie Mauresmo surpass Swiatek in terms of the highest number of consecutive appearances in the third round of a Grand Slam.

Swiatek dominated the first set with nine winners and two aces. However, in the second set, she committed 12 unforced errors and two double faults.

In the decisive set, Swiatek took a 3-1 lead, although Lamens reacted by closing in to 5-4, before Swiatek secured the match with an ace.

After her semifinal defeat at the French Open, Swiatek has won 19 of her last 21 matches.

This streak includes her first grass court final in Bad Homburg, winning her sixth Grand Slam title at Wimbledon and then conquering the title in Cincinnati without conceding a set.

In other notable results of the day in the women’s division, Karolina Muchova (11), Ekaterina Alexandrova (13), Beatriz Haddad Maia (18), and Naomi Osaka (23) achieved victories in straight sets.
