BOLOGNA, Italy – Spain secured their place in the Davis Cup final thanks to the outstanding performance of the doubles pair formed by Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martínez, who defeated the German duo composed of Tim Pütz and Kevin Krawietz, with a score of 6-2, 3-6 and 6-3 on Saturday, thus achieving an overall victory of 2-1 in the semi-final.

Alexander Zverev kept the hopes of the German team alive by defeating Jaume Munar with a score of 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5). Previously, Pablo Carreño Busta had given the first point to Spain by defeating Jan-Lennard Struff. Carreño Busta managed to save five consecutive set points in the tiebreak before sealing his victory with a 6-4, 7-6 (6).

However, the Granollers-Martínez duo surprised Pütz and Krawietz, inflicting their second defeat in the Davis Cup.

This triumph propels the Spanish team, which did not have the presence of Carlos Alcaraz, injured, to the final for the first time in six years.

Spain will face Italy, the two-time defending champion, who defeated Belgium on Friday.
