Spain and Germany Advance to Davis Cup Semifinals

In an exciting day of the Davis Cup, Spain and Germany secured their place in the semifinals after defeating their respective opponents. The tournament, which takes place in Bologna, Italy, has witnessed intense matches and surprises. The Spanish duo formed by Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martínez Portero prevailed in the decisive doubles match, defeating Tomas Machac and Jakub Mensik. This victory secured Spain’s triumph over the Czech Republic with a score of 2-1. The absence of Carlos Alcaraz, who withdrew from the team due to an injury, did not prevent Spain from demonstrating its strength on the court. Granollers and Martínez took the lead and guided their team to victory. Spain’s path to the semi-finals will now pit them against Germany, who secured their place after defeating Argentina with the same score of 2-1. In the match between Germany and Argentina, Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz were the heroes by winning the doubles match, sealing the German triumph. Argentina, who were looking for their 100th victory in the Davis Cup, could not overcome their rivals. The doubles match between Granollers and Martínez was decided in two sets, with scores of 7-6 (8) and 7-6 (8), at the SuperTennis Arena.

On the part of the Czech Republic, Jakub Mensik stood out with 20 aces, but it was not enough to secure his team’s victory. Jaume Munar achieved his first individual victory in the Davis Cup, defeating Jiri Lehecka with a score of 6-3 and 6-4.

I was pretty sure of my tennis. No matter who is in front of me. I had a lot of confidence in myself and that’s the main thing.

In the other quarter-final match, Tomas Martin Etcheverry put Argentina in the lead, but Alexander Zverev tied the score for Germany. In the doubles match, Krawietz and Puetz achieved an epic comeback to secure Germany’s victory. The Davis Cup continues with great anticipation, with Italy facing Belgium in the other semifinal. The Italians, who are looking for their third consecutive title, will have the absence of Jannik Sinner. This edition of the Davis Cup, held in a neutral venue, promises more excitement and surprises on its way to the final.
