In an exciting day of the Davis Cup, Spain achieved a crucial victory against the Czech Republic, securing their place in the semifinals with a score of 2-1. The duo composed of Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martínez Portero shone in the decisive doubles match, sealing the Spanish triumph. The absence of Carlos Alcaraz, who withdrew from the team due to an injury, was not an impediment for Spain to demonstrate its strength and determination. The Spanish team, which hadn’t reached the semi-finals since their victory in 2019, will now face Germany, who secured their place after defeating Argentina with the same score of 2-1. In the match between Germany and Argentina, Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz secured the victory for Germany in a close doubles match. Spain sealed their place in the semi-final by winning the doubles match 7-6 (8), 7-6 (8) at the SuperTennis Arena. In other featured results, Jakub Mensik, with 20 aces, gave the advantage to the Czech team, while Jaume Munar secured his first individual victory in the Davis Cup for Spain by defeating Jiri Lehecka.

I was quite confident in my tennis. It doesn’t matter who is in front of me. I had a lot of confidence in myself and that’s the main thing.

In the other quarter-final match, Germany defeated Argentina in a closely contested duel. Tomas Martin Etcheverry put Argentina in the lead, but Alexander Zverev equalized the score for Germany. In the doubles match, Krawietz and Puetz came back to secure the victory for Germany, in a game where both teams wasted match points. Italy, seeking its third consecutive title and the fourth overall, will face Belgium in the other semi-final. The Italians will not have Jannik Sinner, who is resting. The Davis Cup Finals in Bologna is the sixth edition of the renewed event that crowns a champion in a neutral venue.
