In an exciting day of the Davis Cup, Spain secured its place in the semifinals after defeating the Czech Republic with a score of 2-1. The duo composed of Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martínez Portero shone in the decisive doubles match, sealing the victory for Spain. The absence of Carlos Alcaraz, who withdrew from the team due to an injury, was not an impediment for Spain to demonstrate its strength on the court. The Spanish team, which had not reached this stage since its victory in 2019, will face Germany in the next phase. The doubles match, crucial for qualification, ended with a score of 7-6 (8), 7-6 (8) in favor of Granollers and Martinez, played at the SuperTennis Arena. The young Jakub Mensik, 20 years old, stood out by connecting 20 aces, which allowed him to defeat Pablo Carreño Busta with a score of 7-5, 6-4, giving the initial advantage to the Czech Republic. However, Jaume Munar tied the series for Spain by defeating Jiri Lehecka 6-3, 6-4, securing his first individual victory in the Davis Cup.

I was pretty sure of my tennis. No matter who is in front of me. I had a lot of confidence in myself and that’s the main thing.

In another quarter-final match, Germany defeated Argentina with the same score of 2-1. Although Tomas Martin Etcheverry put Argentina ahead after a match where he connected 23 aces, Alexander Zverev tied the series for Germany. The doubles match between Germany and Argentina was a high-tension duel, where Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz achieved victory after a score of 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (10). In the other semi-final, Italy, seeking their third consecutive title and the fourth overall, will face Belgium. Italy will not have Jannik Sinner, who is resting. The Davis Cup Finals in Bologna represent the sixth edition of this renewed event, which crowns a champion in a neutral venue.
