Tomas Martin Etcheverry put Argentina in the lead after a match where he connected 23 aces, defeating Jan-Lennard Struff with a score of 7-6 (3), 7-6 (7). However, Alexander Zverev, number 3 in the world, tied the series for Germany by defeating Francisco Cerundolo 6-4, 7-6 (3).
