Sinner and Alcaraz will face each other in the Cincinnati Open final

The two best tennis players in the world, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, will face each other in the Cincinnati Open final on Sunday, after winning their respective semifinals on Saturday.

This match will be a rematch of this summer’s Roland Garros and Wimbledon finals.

Sinner, world number one, celebrated his 24th birthday by defeating Terrence Atmane, who had surprisingly reached the semifinals, with a score of 7-6 (4), 6-2.

Atmane, ranked 136th in the world and set to rise to 69th, kept a close game with Sinner in the first set, but the defending champion raised his level in the tie-break and secured the victory in the second set.

This victory represents Sinner’s 26th consecutive win on hard courts and the 12th on all surfaces.

For his part, Alcaraz defeated Alexander Zverev in straight sets, with a score of 6-4, 6-3.

In the doubles competition, the British pair formed by Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool saw their streak of 22 consecutive victories come to an end in the semifinals.

The Wimbledon champions, who had won their last four tournaments, were defeated by Nikola Mektic and Rajeev Ram with a score of 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2).
