Jannik Sinner advances with authority at Roland Garros
In a demonstration of absolute dominance, Jannik Sinner, current world number one, continues his overwhelming performance at the French Open. The Italian tennis player achieved a resounding victory in the third round, solidifying his position as one of the big favorites for the title.
Sinner defeated Jiri Lehecka with a score of 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 in just 1 hour and 34 minutes. This victory not only represents the fastest men’s match so far at Roland Garros, but it is also the most uneven in terms of games lost in Sinner’s career at a Grand Slam tournament.
“We tried to improve,” commented Sinner. “Today, I don’t think there are many things I can improve.”

The match statistics reflect Sinner’s superiority: 31 winners, only 9 unforced errors, 18 break points with 7 converted and just one break point against, which he managed to save.
Sinner’s dominance was such that the first 11 games went his way. The fans present at the Suzanne-Lenglen court celebrated with a standing ovation the moment Lehecka managed to win a game, thus showing respect and admiration for Sinner’s performance.
Despite the defeat, Lehecka, ranked 34th, proved to be a worthy opponent, with an outstanding career that includes a participation in the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam.
Sinner, who has won the last two Grand Slam championships (US Open in September and Australian Open in January), has an undefeated streak in the most important tennis tournaments, surpassed in this century only by Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal.
Sinner’s next challenge will be on Monday, where he will face Andrey Rublev, number 17 in the world, in search of a place in the quarterfinals.
Rublev advanced due to Arthur Fils’ withdrawal because of a stress fracture in his lower back.In other results, American Ethan Quinn, 2023 NCAA champion, fell to Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands.
