Jannik Sinner won the China Open, after defeating young American tennis player Learner Tien with a resounding 6-2, 6-2 in Wednesday’s final. This triumph consolidates his preparation for the Shanghai Masters. Sinner, who recovered from his disappointment at the US Open, achieved his third title of the season and the 21st of his career. His dominant performance against Tien, 19 years old and the second youngest player to reach the tournament final, was key.Sinner’s next challenge will be in Shanghai, where he starts as the favorite. Carlos Alcaraz, who suffered an ankle injury in the first round of the Japan Open, was forced to withdraw. On Tuesday, Sinner achieved his eleventh consecutive victory against Alex de Minaur in the China Open semi-final. With a score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, Sinner secured his ninth consecutive final in hard court tournaments. Tien, currently ranked number 52, played his first tournament final after Daniil Medvedev retired due to injury when the score was 5-7, 7-5, 4-0 on Tuesday.
