Aryna Sabalenka Withdraws from the Canadian Open
World number one, Aryna Sabalenka, has decided to withdraw from the National Bank Open, a tournament held in Montreal. The Belarusian tennis player has chosen to take additional time off before beginning her preparation to defend the title at the US Open.Sabalenka reached the Wimbledon semi-finals, where she fell to Amanda Anisimova. The National Bank Open will start on July 27. Sabalenka could return for the Cincinnati Open in early August, with the first round of the US Open scheduled to begin on August 24. The tennis player won that title for the first time in 2024. The tournament also reported that Paula Badosa, ranked number 10, withdrew due to an injury. Caty McNally and Moyuka Uchijima will replace Sabalenka and Badosa in the main draw.I’m looking forward to starting the North American hard court tour, but to give myself the best chance of success this season, I’ve decided that it’s best to skip Montreal.
