Wuhan, China – Aryna Sabalenka continues her winning streak in Wuhan, adding her twentieth consecutive victory by defeating eighth-seeded Elena Rybakina with a score of 6-3, 6-3. This triumph secures her a place in the semifinals of the WTA 1000 tournament.
Sabalenka, the current US Open champion, had already won the Wuhan Open title in 2018, 2019 and last year, marking her triumphant return to the Chinese city.
In a match that lasted one hour and twenty-five minutes, the world number one broke Rybakina’s serve on three occasions. With this victory, Sabalenka advances to the semifinals for the eleventh time this season, sending kisses and greetings to the fans.
Coco Gauff, the third seed, also had an outstanding performance, securing her place in the semifinals after defeating Laura Siegemund with a score of 6-3, 6-0. Gauff seeks to surpass her performance from the previous week at the China Open, where she was defeated in the semifinals.
In the next stage, Gauff will face Iga Swiatek, number two in the world, or Jasmine Paolini, who were vying for a place in the next round in a later match.
