Wuhan, China – Aryna Sabalenka continues to be unstoppable in the Wuhan tournament, extending her winning streak to 20 matches after defeating Elena Rybakina, eighth seed, with a score of 6-3, 6-3, securing her place in the semifinals of the WTA 1000 tournament.

The current US Open champion has demonstrated her dominance in Wuhan, conquering the title in 2018, 2019, and last year, marking her triumphant return to the Chinese city.

In a match that lasted 1 hour and 25 minutes, Sabalenka, world number one, managed to break Rybakina’s serve on three occasions, consolidating her advance to the semifinals for the eleventh time this season. At the end of the match, the Belarusian tennis player sent greetings and kisses to the fans present.

Coco Gauff, the third seed, also secured her place in the semifinals, achieving a resounding victory over Laura Siegemund with a score of 6-3, 6-0. This is the second consecutive semifinal for the American.

In the previous week, Gauff was defeated in the semifinals of the China Open by Amanda Anisimova, who ultimately won the championship.

In her next match, Gauff will face Iga Swiatek, number two in the world, or Jasmine Paolini, who faced each other in the afternoon match.

Sabalenka will face Jessica Pegula, the sixth seed, who had previously played a third set in seven consecutive matches. Pegula, after losing the first set against Katerina Siniakova, reacted to win the next two, with a final score of 2-6, 6-0, 6-3.

Pegula reaches this instance after defeating Ekaterina Alexandrova, number 9, and her American compatriot Hailey Baptiste.
