WUHAN, China – Aryna Sabalenka continues her winning streak in Wuhan, securing her spot in the WTA 1000 tournament semifinals with a solid victory.
Sabalenka Unstoppable in Wuhan
The current US Open champion, Aryna Sabalenka, extended her impressive winning streak in Wuhan to 20 matches. This Friday, she demonstrated her dominance by defeating Elena Rybakina, the eighth seed, with a score of 6-3, 6-3. The match, which lasted 1 hour and 25 minutes, secured her a place in the semifinals of the tournament.
Sabalenka, who already won the Wuhan Open title in 2018, 2019 and last year, seeks to repeat her success in this edition. During the match, she managed to break Rybakina’s serve on three occasions, consolidating her path to victory.
After the triumph, Sabalenka thanked the audience with gestures of affection, demonstrating the special connection she has with the fans in Wuhan.
Coco Gauff Advances with Authority
In another outstanding performance, Coco Gauff, the third seed, secured her place in the semifinals by defeating Laura Siegemund with a score of 6-3, 6-0. Gauff, who comes from an outstanding participation in the China Open, is now looking to reach the final.
Gauff will face Iga Swiatek or Jasmine Paolini in the semifinals, who played a match later.
Jessica Pegula Fights for a Place in Semifinals
Jessica Pegula, the sixth seed, also managed to advance to the semifinals after a close match against Katerina Siniakova. Pegula, who has had a series of intense matches, recovered after losing the first set and secured the victory with scores of 2-6, 6-0, 6-3.
