Holger Rune Injured and Will Be Out of the Courts for a While
Danish tennis player Holger Rune, currently ranked number 11 in the world, announced that he will be away from the courts for a considerable time due to an Achilles tendon injury that will require surgery. The injury occurred during the Nordic Open semifinals in Stockholm on Saturday, where Rune was forced to retire from the match against Ugo Humbert. At that moment, Rune was leading the match with a score of 6-4, 2-2. Rune himself shared the news through his social media, expressing his frustration and sadness about the situation.The 22-year-old tennis player explained that his Achilles tendon suffered a “complete rupture in the proximal part” and that he will undergo surgery next week. Rune has managed to reach the quarter-finals in three Grand Slam tournaments and reached the number 4 position in the world ranking.It’s going to be a while before I can step on the court again. It’s tough. I felt so much joy on the court in Stockholm and it’s unbearable to think that I won’t feel this energy for a while.
