Holger Rune Injured and Will Be Out of the Courts for a While
Danish tennis player Holger Rune, currently ranked number 11 in the world, announced that he will be away from the courts for a while due to an Achilles tendon injury that requires surgery. The news comes after his retirement in the semifinals of the Nordic Open in Stockholm. Rune retired from the match against Ugo Humbert on Saturday, showing signs of pain and visibly affected. The match was stopped when Rune was leading with a score of 6-4 and 2-2. Rune himself shared the news on social media, expressing his frustration and sadness at not being able to play for a while.The 22-year-old tennis player revealed that his Achilles tendon suffered a “complete rupture in the proximal part” and that he will undergo surgery next week. The Danish tennis player has reached the quarterfinals in three Grand Slam tournaments and reached number 4 in the world ranking.It’s going to be a while before I can step on the court again. It’s tough. I had so much joy on the court in Stockholm and it’s unbearable to think that I won’t feel this energy for a while now.
