Raducanu feels safe after security measures at Wimbledon

British tennis player Emma Raducanu expressed her peace of mind following the security measures implemented by Wimbledon, which prevented the purchase of tickets to a man who was harassing her. The 2021 US Open champion was followed by the man at WTA events in Singapore, Abu Dhabi, and Doha earlier this year. Raducanu broke down in tears upon seeing him during a match at the Dubai Championships in February. The man received a restraining order from the Dubai police and was banned from all circuit events. However, Wimbledon officials, organized by the All England Club, had to act after a review of ticket applicants.

Wimbledon and everyone did an incredible job. I received a notification, the police contacted me and told me everything was fine.

Raducanu also commented that she is aware that she is not the first athlete to go through this situation, nor probably the last. She highlighted the importance of additional protection, especially in the United Kingdom, where there are more spectators. The British tennis player also praised Katie Boulter for sharing her experience of online abuse. Raducanu revealed that she avoids reading negative comments or messages so as not to be disturbed.
