Cam Norrie advanced to the third round of Wimbledon after a tough match against Frances Tiafoe on Wednesday.
Norrie won with partials of 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 and 7-5 in a match that tested both tennis players.
After conceding the first set, Norrie reacted to win the second, giving the impression of heading towards a relatively easy victory over Tiafoe, the twelfth seed.
However, the rest of the match was far from straightforward.
Norrie managed a break in the third set to go up 3-1, but Tiafoe responded. He recovered the break to get closer to 3-2, and tied the score in style, connecting three consecutive aces to tie at 3-3.
The American’s inertia stopped almost immediately, as Norrie regained his composure to win the third set 6-3.
Upon closing the set, Norrie demonstrated visible motivation and celebrated each point with a gesture towards his coaches, with victory in sight.
Tiafoe stabilized in the fourth set, and both players maintained the pace, intensifying the battle. However, it was Norrie, driven by the support of his home crowd, who prevailed by winning the final set 7-5 and advancing to the next round.
