Andy Murray Reflects on His Coaching Experience

Two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray has expressed doubts about whether the coaching role is suitable for him, following his brief experience as part of Novak Djokovic’s team. Murray, who was also crowned US Open champion in 2012, retired from professional tennis after the 2024 Paris Olympics and has since maintained a low profile in the sport. In November 2024, Murray ventured into the world of coaching, collaborating with Djokovic, winner of 24 Grand Slam titles, whom he defeated in the US Open final and in his first Wimbledon triumph in 2013. However, this stage as a coach ended in May 2025, after only six months with the Serbian tennis player. Murray is not convinced to take on this role again.
Andy Murray admitted he was not sure if he would return to coaching
During the last stop of his “Andy Murray Centre Stage” tour, held at the New Wimbledon Theatre, Murray commented: “I thought I should try it to see if I enjoyed it; I’m not sure I did.” Murray drew an audience of 1,700 people to the theater before the 2025 Wimbledon edition. Among the guests were Sir Gareth Southgate and tennis legend Billie Jean King. The event, hosted by commentator Andrew Cotter, featured John McEnroe, who urged the former world number one to remain involved in tennis in some way.

Andy, I hope you stay involved in the sport, in any way that makes you happy. This sport needs you and would love for you to be present more or less regularly.
