Belgian tennis player Elise Mertens has achieved an incredible feat at the Libema Open, saving 11 match points to defeat Ekaterina Alexandrova and secure her place in the tournament final. This achievement marks a significant milestone in her career and in the recent history of women’s tennis. The WTA has confirmed that this is the most match points saved in a women’s main draw match so far this decade. The intensity and emotion took over the court as Mertens fought to stay in the game. After an epic battle, Mertens, currently ranked number 20, managed to prevail with scores of 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-4 on the grass court of ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
