Nick Kyrgios Withdraws from US Open for Third Consecutive Year
Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has confirmed his withdrawal from the US Open, thus marking his absence for the third consecutive year in the last Grand Slam tournament of the season.
Kyrgios has dealt with various injuries in recent years, which has affected his participation in the professional circuit. After undergoing surgeries on his wrist and knee, he tried to return to tennis this year.
His comeback occurred at the Australian Open, where he was eliminated in the first round. This was his first appearance in a major tournament since the 2022 US Open.
His best performance in a Grand Slam event was at Wimbledon, where he reached the final, losing to Novak Djokovic.
Kyrgios, who reached a career-high ranking of world number 13, has only played five singles matches on the ATP Tour this season, the last one in March in Miami.
Their place in the tournament will be taken by a player who loses in the final stages of the qualifiers.
