Nick Kyrgios Withdraws from US Open for Third Consecutive Year

Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios withdraws from the US Open, marking his absence for the third consecutive year in the final Grand Slam of the season. Kyrgios has dealt with injuries in recent years, missing much of the 2023 and 2024 seasons before attempting to return this year. After undergoing wrist and knee surgeries, he reappeared at the Australian Open but was eliminated in the first round. That was his first participation in a major tournament since the 2022 US Open. His best performance in a Grand Slam event was just before that, when he reached the Wimbledon final, losing to Novak Djokovic. Kyrgios, who reached number 13 in the world ranking, has only played five singles matches on the ATP circuit this season, none since Miami in March. Will be replaced in the tournament by a player who loses in the final stages of the qualifiers.
