Ivanov Crowned at Wimbledon: First Grand Slam Title
Wimbledon, England – Bulgarian tennis player Ivan Ivanov won his first Grand Slam title by defeating Ronit Karki of the United States in the Wimbledon junior final on Sunday. The final score was 6-2, 6-3.
At 16 years old, Ivanov becomes the second Bulgarian to win this prestigious title, following in the footsteps of Grigor Dimitrov, who achieved it in 2008.
During the match, Ivanov didn’t concede any break opportunities to Karki and finished the match with 22 winners, far surpassing his opponent’s six.
Karki aspired to be the first player coming from the qualifying phase to win the title since Noah Rubin in 2014.
