Djokovic Wins Quarterfinal and Advances to Roland Garros Semifinals
Paris – Despite having conquered his 100th title in Geneva, few considered Novak Djokovic as the favorite to win Roland Garros at the age of 38. However, his victory in the quarterfinals against Alexander Zverev has changed the landscape.Djokovic, with 24 Grand Slam titles, reaches his 51st semifinal in a tournament of this category. His performance against Zverev was notable, erasing the memory of his injury withdrawal at the Australian Open. Now, he will face the world number 1, Jannik Sinner, after having lost only one set on his way to the semifinals.
Match Analysis
Djokovic started the match with some difficulties in his serve, but quickly adapted. After the first set, his serve and volley strengthened significantly. In the second set, he achieved a 76% first serve rate, increasing to 78% in the third, winning 13 out of 14 points and losing only two in total with his serve. Zverev, on the other hand, struggled, especially with his second serve, winning only 33% in the second set and 20% in the third. In the fourth set, Djokovic maintained his high level, achieving 77% on his serve and saving a break point in a 41-shot rally.

Djokovic’s Strategy
Djokovic used the drop shot from the beginning of the match, varying his game and dictating the rhythm. This tactic was key, forcing Zverev to make difficult decisions and destabilizing him. Djokovic connected 35 drop shots, which allowed him to dominate the match.
Despite Zverev’s resistance in the fourth set, Djokovic maintained his focus and level, securing the victory.
Can Djokovic Win the Title?
The road to the title won’t be easy. Djokovic will face Sinner in the semifinals and, potentially, Carlos Alcaraz in the final. No player has consecutively defeated the top three players in the world to win a Grand Slam, which presents a great challenge for Djokovic.
Furthermore, Sinner has won his last three matches against Djokovic, which adds a considerable obstacle in the quest for the title.
