Sinner Minimizes the Impact of Team Changes Before Wimbledon
The world number one, Jannik Sinner, has downplayed any negative impact following the unexpected separation from his coach and physiotherapist, Marco Panichi and Ulises Badio, respectively, days before Wimbledon. The 23-year-old Italian tennis player spoke about the situation on Saturday, assuring that the decision does not affect him and that he feels ready to compete.Sinner thanked Panichi and Badio for the incredible results achieved together, including the victory at this year’s Australian Open, which added his third Grand Slam. He also reached the final of the French Open this month, where he lost against Carlos Alcaraz. Sinner, who hopes to win his first Wimbledon title, added that things can happen in sports and that sometimes a player feels the need to make changes. After losing a match in Halle against Alexander Bublik, Sinner feels mentally prepared for Wimbledon, where he aims to become the first Italian singles champion.“Nothing important happened. Nothing big happened. I separated not long ago, but it’s not affecting me. I feel ready to compete. I feel free. I feel that my team and I are ready to give our best,” Sinner told reporters.

Sinner also commented that he feels good, especially mentally, and that the French Open final was of a very high level. Sinner was suspended for three months at the beginning of this year after an agreement with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in February. During his downtime, he explored new talents, recording a single with the great Italian opera artist Andrea Bocelli. Sinner said it was great to do something completely different. “I felt that, especially in these three months in which I couldn’t play, it was the right time to also make the video together and everything,” he said. “Obviously, he’s an incredible artist. Being a part of this for me was incredible. It was a great work, a work in progress. I think we’re all very happy with the result.”“Honestly, I feel ready to play. We are training very well. What happened in the past is already in the past,” stated Sinner, who will face his compatriot Luca Nardi in the first round.
