Djokovic draws inspiration from LeBron, Ronaldo, and Brady to extend his career
The Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has revealed that he is motivated by the careers of LeBron James, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Tom Brady, which drives him to aspire to a professional career that extends into his 40s.Djokovic, 38 years old, made these statements at the Joy Forum held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, prior to his participation in the Six Kings Slam. The tennis player highlighted the impressive longevity of figures like LeBron James, who is still active at 40 years old, and Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as the legacy of Tom Brady, who played until he was 40 years old. Despite not having won a Grand Slam title in the last two years, and having been surpassed by Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, Djokovic is not considering retirement. His goal is to conquer his 25th Grand Slam title, which would break the record for the most individual titles in the history of tennis, both in men and women. Djokovic’s statements contrast with what he expressed after some eliminations in Grand Slams this year, where he even hinted that a match could be his last at Roland Garros. However, he has also stated his intention to participate in all four Grand Slams in 2026, which would extend his career at least until 2027. Djokovic, who co-founded the Professional Tennis Players Association in 2020, also seeks to use his influence to improve the sport. Leading players are pressuring the Grand Slams for a greater share of revenue, and the PTPA has filed lawsuits against tennis governing bodies to push for changes.Longevity is one of my biggest motivations. I really want to see how far I can go.

Djokovic added that he believes tennis can be significantly transformed in the coming years and that he wants to be part of that change.I want to live to see, to live in the sense of continuing to play professionally, what’s coming for our sport, and I’m very excited about it.
