Alex De Minaur Reaches 50 Wins in the Season
In a standout performance at the Shanghai Masters, Alex De Minaur, seeded number seven, became the third player this season to reach 50 tournament-level wins. De Minaur achieved this feat by defeating Nuno Borges with a score of 7-5, 6-2 on Wednesday.
De Minaur demonstrated his prowess on the court with 19 winners, securing his place in the quarterfinals of the Masters 1000 in one hour and 47 minutes.
Only Carlos Alcaraz, with 67 wins, and Taylor Fritz, with 50, had previously reached the 50-win mark in 2025.
In his best previous season, De Minaur achieved 47 wins in 2024, including two titles.
In his next match, De Minaur will face the 16th seed, Daniil Medvedev, who achieved a victory over Learner Tien with a score of 7-6 (6), 6-7 (1), 6-4.
In addition, the number 12 seed, Felix Auger-Aliassime, eliminated Lorenzo Musetti, the number eight seed, with a score of 6-4, 6-2. This secures him a place in the quarterfinals against Arthur Rinderknech, who previously defeated Jiri Lehecka, the number 15 seed, with a score of 6-3, 7-6 (5).
Rinderknech, ranked 54th, previously eliminated Alexander Zverev, seeded number three, and now joins his cousin Valentin Vacherot in the quarterfinals.
