De Minaur Reaches 50 Wins in the Season and Advances in the Shanghai Masters
In a standout performance at the Shanghai Masters, Alex De Minaur, seeded number seven, achieved his 50th victory of the season, defeating Nuno Borges with a score of 7-5 and 6-2.
De Minaur demonstrated his prowess on the court, connecting 19 winning shots that allowed him to secure his place in the quarterfinals of the tournament in just one hour and 47 minutes.
With this victory, De Minaur joins a select group of tennis players who have achieved this milestone in the season. Only Carlos Alcaraz, with 67 victories, and Taylor Fritz, with 50, had achieved this mark previously in 2025.
In his most successful previous season, De Minaur accumulated 47 wins and obtained two titles.
In his next challenge, De Minaur will face Daniil Medvedev, who, as the 16th seed, secured his pass by defeating Learner Tien with partials of 7-6 (6), 6-7 (1) and 6-4.
In addition, Felix Auger-Aliassime, seeded number 12, eliminated Lorenzo Musetti, eighth seed, with a score of 6-4 and 6-2. This will allow him to play the quarterfinals against Arthur Rinderknech, who surprised by defeating Jiri Lehecka, seeded number 15, with a result of 6-3 and 7-6 (5).
Rinderknech, currently ranked 54th, also managed to eliminate Alexander Zverev, the third seed, and joins his cousin Valentin Vacherot in the quarterfinals.
