Alex De Minaur Reaches 50 Wins in the Season
The tennis player Alex De Minaur, seeded number seven, became the third player this season to reach 50 victories in professional-level tournaments. He achieved this after defeating Nuno Borges with a score of 7-5 and 6-2 at the Shanghai Masters this Wednesday.
De Minaur displayed a dominant game, connecting 19 winning shots that allowed him to secure his pass to the quarterfinals of the Masters 1000 in one hour and 47 minutes.
Only Carlos Alcaraz, with 67 victories, and Taylor Fritz, with 50, had previously managed to reach this mark in 2025.
In his previous best season, De Minaur achieved 47 wins in 2024, as well as two titles.
In the next phase, De Minaur will face the 16th seed, Daniil Medvedev, who defeated Learner Tien with scores of 7-6 (6), 6-7 (1) and 6-4.
On the other hand, Felix Auger-Aliassime, seeded number 12, eliminated Lorenzo Musetti, eighth seed, with a score of 6-4 and 6-2, securing his place in the quarterfinals against Arthur Rinderknech.
Rinderknech, who previously surprised by defeating third seed Alexander Zverev, joins his cousin Valentin Vacherot in the quarterfinals.
