De Minaur Advances to US Open Quarterfinals

The tennis player Alex De Minaur, seeded number 8, secured his place in the quarterfinals of the US Open after defeating qualifier Leandro Riedi with a score of 6-3, 6-2, and 6-1.

This victory represents the sixth time De Minaur has reached the quarterfinals in a Grand Slam tournament, although he is still seeking his first appearance in the semifinals.

To advance to the next round, De Minaur will face the winner of the match between Andrey Rublev, seeded number 15, and Felix Auger-Aliassime, seeded number 25, who played on Monday afternoon at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

De Minaur becomes the first Australian tennis player to reach the US Open quarterfinals in two consecutive years since Lleyton Hewitt, who achieved it for seven straight years, between 2000 and 2006.

Leandro Riedi, currently ranked 435th in the world, was the lowest-ranked tennis player to reach the round of 16 in a Grand Slam tournament since Richard Krajicek, who reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2002, being ranked 1,093rd.
