Kazakh tennis player Alexander Bublik won his first clay court title on the circuit at the Swiss Open in Gstaad, after defeating Argentine Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the final of the ATP 250 event. The final score was 6-4, 4-6, and 6-3, in a match that lasted more than two hours. Bublik, who reached the quarterfinals at Roland Garros, and was the second seed in Gstaad, played his first final on clay. Despite not having conceded any set before the final, he had to recover after a complicated second set to secure the victory.

“Juan, as I told you on the net, this wasn’t tennis. It was complete torture,” Bublik joked during the trophy presentation. “This is my sixth title and I’ve played against tennis greats, but I’ll remember this final as one of the toughest I’ve played.”

Bublik also expressed his enthusiasm for returning next year, highlighting the beauty of the Alps and the satisfaction of obtaining the victory in such a special place. This victory represents a solid return to form for Bublik, after his elimination in the first round of Wimbledon. It is his second title of the season and the sixth of his career. The tennis player, currently ranked number 34 in the world rankings, had already won the ATP 500 grass court trophy in Halle last month.
