Alcaraz and Sinner: The ATP Finals Final in Sight

Turin, Italy – Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, two of the most resounding names in current tennis, are preparing to compete for a new title in a season where they have faced each other in the most important finals. This Sunday, the final of the ATP Finals will be the stage where these two tennis titans will seek to add another trophy to their showcases. In Saturday’s semifinals, Alcaraz, the current world number one, defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime with a score of 6-2, 6-4. For his part, Sinner, number two in the ranking, defeated Alex de Minaur 7-5, 6-2, in front of his Italian audience.

I hope there are at least three or four people in the crowd cheering for me. It will be really difficult. I am very happy to see Jannik in another final. Every time we face each other in a final, we raise our level to the maximum.

Carlos Alcaraz
Alcaraz, who already secured the first place at the end of the year, will play his first final in this tournament that brings together the eight best players in the world. Sinner, for his part, will play his third consecutive final in Turin and will seek his second consecutive title. The Italian has demonstrated an exceptional level, without conceding a set in the ATP Finals since he was defeated by Novak Djokovic in the 2023 championship, accumulating a streak of 18 consecutive sets won.

These are matches I look forward to. Also to see where my level really is, but at the same time it’s great before the off-season to have this match… of course, I feel comfortable on a hard indoor court.

Jannik Sinner
This year, Alcaraz and Sinner have faced each other six times, including the finals of the Italian Open and Cincinnati, both won by Alcaraz. Alcaraz leads Sinner in their head-to-head matchups with a record of 10-5. In Saturday’s match, Alcaraz dominated Auger-Aliassime from the start, adding his fourth victory of the week. The Spaniard had 25 winners against his opponent’s 15, and committed half the unforced errors.

I am very happy with today’s level. I played very solid, very aggressive.

Carlos Alcaraz
This is Alcaraz’s third participation in the Finals, although he withdrew in 2022 due to injury. Meanwhile, Sinner maintained his impeccable record against De Minaur, extending his dominance to 13-0 in head-to-head matchups. Sinner saved three break points in his first service game and eventually managed to break De Minaur’s serve, securing the first set. The second set was dominated by Sinner, who quickly took a 4-0 lead.

I was happy with how I served and how I reacted in the important moments.

Jannik Sinner
Sinner has extended his winning streak on indoor hard courts to 31 matches, keeping his serve intact throughout the week.
