Alcaraz Advances in the Japan Open After Overcoming Ankle Injury
TOKYO – Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, number one in the world, managed to advance to the next round of the Japan Open after defeating Sebastián Báez with a score of 6-4, 6-2. The match, however, was marked by an incident that generated concern among the public. During the first set, with the score tied at 2-2, Alcaraz suffered a sprained ankle that forced him to stop the game. Visibly affected, the tennis player grabbed his left ankle showing signs of pain.Despite the injury, Alcaraz received medical attention and was able to continue the match. After receiving a bandage on his ankle, the tennis player regained his level and secured his place in the third round.“When I supported my ankle, I got scared, because at first it didn’t feel good,” Alcaraz stated.

“I was worried about not having the confidence to finish the match, but the physio came and did some tests,” he explained. “It was good that I could walk to the bench, and that gave me confidence. I am trying to have a warrior mentality in every match, in every aspect of everything.”
