Carlos Alcaraz Misses Davis Cup Due to Injury

Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz will not be able to participate in this year’s Davis Cup due to an injury. The world number one has been ruled out of the competition to be held in Italy, after suffering a hamstring injury. This news is a blow to the Spanish team and to Alcaraz himself, who had expressed his desire to represent his country. Alcaraz announced his withdrawal through his social media, where he expressed his sadness at not being able to compete. The doctors recommended that he not participate in the tournament due to the injury suffered during last week’s ATP Finals.

I am very sorry to announce that I will not be able to play the Davis Cup in Bologna. I have edema in my right hamstring and the medical recommendation is not to compete.

The tennis player, who debuted in the Davis Cup in 2022, has a record of 6-2, with 5-1 in singles. The last time Spain won the title was in 2019. Alcaraz had already missed the 2023 edition due to physical problems, in a year in which Spain was eliminated in the group stage. The player, who has expressed his desire to win the Davis Cup, will miss Spain’s quarter-final match against the Czech Republic. Alcaraz’s absence comes after the tennis player secured the number one ranking at the end of the year. In the ATP Finals, he fell to Jannik Sinner. Alcaraz also finished in first place in 2022. This year, Alcaraz conquered the French Open and the US Open, adding up to a total of six Grand Slam titles.
