Carlos Alcaraz won the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 title after defeating Lorenzo Musetti with a score of 3-6, 6-1, 6-0. The match, marked by an injury to Musetti, consolidated the sixth Masters 1000 crown in Alcaraz’s career.
Alcaraz dominated the match to secure his first trophy in Monte Carlo and his 18th tournament-level victory. This triumph in Monaco will allow him to rise to second place in the world ranking, surpassing Alexander Zverev.
Musetti, visibly affected by a right leg injury since the third set, received medical treatment after being down 3-0. The Italian tennis player, playing his first Masters 1000 final, had difficulty moving and keeping up with Alcaraz.

Alcaraz, who has had some challenges this year, was coming off a first-round loss to David Goffin in Miami.
This clay final represents the third consecutive for Alcaraz, after winning the French Open and obtaining the silver medal at the Paris Olympics last year.
In his twenty-third tournament-level final, Alcaraz needed six match points to defeat his Spanish compatriot Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the semifinals, with a score of 7-6 (2), 6-4.
Musetti, with two tournament titles in 2022, managed to break Alcaraz’s serve twice to win the first set. However, Alcaraz reacted strongly, achieving two breaks in the second set to even the match. Musetti was unable to maintain competitiveness in the decisive set.
Musetti, ranked 13th and a bronze medalist in Paris last year, defeated Alex de Miñaur 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4) in his semifinal, and had previously eliminated the defending champion, Stefanos Tsitsipas, in the quarterfinals.
The final was brought forward three hours due to the heavy rain forecast for the night.
