The second Grand Slam tournament of the year in tennis presents familiar names at the top of the favorites lists, although the order and odds could be unusual.

Favorites in the men’s branch

In the men’s division, the current champion, Carlos Alcaraz (+105), and Jannik Sinner (+220) are the main favorites to win the French Open. Novak Djokovic (+1100) is positioned in a distant third place according to the odds.

In the women’s bracket, Aryna Sabalenka (+230) is the favorite to win her first title at Roland Garros. Iga Swiatek (+340), winner of four of the last five French Opens, is in a close second place.

Swiatek’s history on Parisian clay is what keeps her close to Sabalenka. Since winning the tournament last June, Swiatek hasn’t reached a Grand Slam final and hasn’t yet won a singles title in 2025. At the Olympic Games, held at Roland Garros, she only obtained a bronze medal.

Despite its recent form, bettors rely on their familiarity with the surface to guide their bets. Swiatek has attracted 21.8% of the bets to win the tournament at BetMGM. Swiatek’s price has increased to the mid-300s after an unfavorable draw revealed this week, making her even more attractive to the betting public.

They’re betting on it at that price. They don’t care about the recent form, they just feel it’s the horse for this run here. It’s been getting money and I think it will continue to get money.

The favorite Sabalenka is also attracting significant financial attention, accumulating the most money on ESPN BET and the second-highest number of bets on BetMGM.

Alcaraz and Sinner rightfully lead the men’s betting odds, having won every Grand Slam title since the 2024 Australian Open. Bettors are backing them, with ESPN BET reporting that the pair accounts for nearly 50% of all bets on the tournament winner, with Alcaraz attracting a staggering 85.9% of the money.

Alcaraz’s odds to win the tournament shortened slightly after the men’s draw was released this week, while Sinner’s lengthened a bit due to the potential tough matches he’ll have, including a possible clash with Djokovic in the semi-final.

Meanwhile, American bettors, always eager to support their local heroes, are putting money on Coco Gauff (+500) in the women’s bracket and Tommy Paul (+6600) in the men’s. BetMGM identifies both players as big liabilities, while DraftKings’ Avello emphasizes the danger to the sportsbook in particular on Paul.

In general, tennis is one of the most popular niches in sports betting. The French Open is routinely the second most bet-on tennis tournament of the year, only surpassed by the US Open.
