The world number one, Carlos Alcaraz, paid tribute to his medical team after overcoming concerns about an ankle injury and advancing to the quarterfinals of the Japan Open. Alcaraz, who seemed to be in trouble after twisting his left ankle in his first match on Thursday, achieved a solid victory over Zizou Bergs with a score of 6-4, 6-3. This triumph secures him a place in the quarterfinals against American Brandon Nakashima.This season, Alcaraz has won seven titles, including the French Open and the US Open.“I said it before and I’ll say it again, I have the best physiotherapist in the world, whom I trust 100%, and the work he has done on the ankle, I think it has been great,” Alcaraz stated. “I was able to play, I would say normally. I was worried about some movements on the court where I could feel the ankle, but overall I think I played a great match.”
