Zirkzee Accepts the Competition: “It’s All for the Team”

Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee has expressed his tranquility regarding the possible arrival of another attacker to the team this summer. The Dutch player, who scored three goals in his first season in the Premier League after his signing for 36.5 million pounds, is positive about the competition. Zirkzee, despite not having had a first season with many goals, is not worried about the possible arrival of new attacking players. “I think it’s part of being at this club,” he commented. “If another striker comes, I think there will only be good competition, so I’m not really worried.”

Everything is for the team, there is no selfishness here, that is not my philosophy. If it helps the team, then great.

The forward has had an up-and-down season at United. He was booed by some fans after being substituted in the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle in December. However, he also scored the winning penalty in an FA Cup penalty shootout against Arsenal in January.

Zirkzee also suffered a hamstring injury in April that kept him out of the final weeks of the season, although he surprisingly returned to the team for the Europa League final against Tottenham. Zirkzee, who is currently on United’s pre-season tour of the United States, missed the first match against West Ham in New Jersey due to an injury. “I have a small injury, but it shouldn’t take long to recover now,” he assured. “I have great physiotherapists working with me every day. It’s a small injury, it’s not a serious problem.”
