Before his injury, Yamal had had an impressive start to the season, scoring two goals and assisting in another two in the first three LaLiga matches. Subsequently, he provided three more assists in Spain’s victories in the World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Turkey, although his participation in those matches was not well received by the Barça coach, Hansi Flick.
