Good news for Barcelona fans. Lamine Yamal has confirmed his return for the LaLiga match against Real Sociedad this Sunday, after missing the last four games due to a groin injury. The young 18-year-old player has not participated since before the September international break, missing out on Barça’s victories against Valencia, Newcastle United, Getafe and Real Oviedo. The Blaugrana striker shared his enthusiasm on social media with a video that compiles the best moments of his short but promising career.

Before his injury, Yamal had had an impressive start to the season, scoring two goals and assisting in another two in the first three LaLiga matches. Subsequently, he provided three more assists in Spain’s victories in the World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Turkey, although his participation in those matches was not well received by the Barça coach, Hansi Flick. Yamal joined the Spanish national team with a minor groin problem and aggravated the injury while with the national team, leading Flick to accuse La Roja of not taking care of their young players.

Meanwhile, Barça is awaiting Raphinha’s fitness for the match against Real Sociedad this weekend. The Brazilian striker was substituted in the second half of Thursday’s 3-1 victory over Oviedo, and Flick indicated that the decision was precautionary and does not expect a serious injury. In other matters, left-back Alejandro Balde is close to returning to action after recovering from a hamstring injury, but Marc-André ter Stegen and Gavi, who this week was announced to be out for up to five months, are long-term absentees. Midfielder Fermín López will also be out for the next three weeks after suffering a muscle injury in the victory against Getafe last Sunday. The Barça remains undefeated after seven matches in all competitions this season, with the 1-1 draw in August against Rayo Vallecano being the only match they haven’t won, which puts them two points behind the provisional leader of LaLiga, Real Madrid.
