Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson expressed his pride after seeing his team come back to achieve an impressive 3-2 victory against Norwich. The visiting team, which was losing at halftime, scored three goals in twelve minutes to change the course of the match, with a brace from captain Josh Windass. Although Norwich scored a second goal at the end, this did not tarnish the excellent performance that gave them their second victory of the season in the Championship.

Some of the football moments we produced during that period of the match [at the beginning of the second half] were outstanding.

Parkinson added that the team played well in the first half, but was surprised by a late goal. He instructed the players not to let this affect their game in the second half. The coach assured them that if they kept playing that way, they would get back into the game, and so they did, with quality play.

Parkinson highlighted that they were much more effective in the second half and also defended well, something that pleased him, as they had been vulnerable in some matches of the season. The coach recalled that the atmosphere on the field was excellent and that the team has improved a lot. He also mentioned that, after the previous defeat, some players felt discouraged, but they shouldn’t be. The coach highlighted that the team is under development, with many new players, and that, once they adapt and reach their best level, they will be competitive in this category. Norwich took the lead in the 39th minute thanks to Jack Stacey.

The Wrexham tied at 62 seconds of the second half, when debutant Issa Kaboré assisted Windass to score. Seven minutes later, Ryan Longman scored after another cross from Kaboré. The victory was secured near the hour mark, when Windass scored a third goal. Although substitute Jovon Makama scored for Norwich in added time. Norwich coach Liam Manning, when asked about the fourth consecutive home defeat since taking over in the summer, expressed his anger, frustration, and disappointment.

We weren’t good enough. Too many elements of our game weren’t good enough.

Manning added that the team was too passive, both in defense and with ball possession. He believes they must go back to basics, be difficult to beat and improve with the ball. According to Manning, when they conceded the goal at the beginning of the second half, they needed to react, but they didn’t. The coach concluded that now is the time to reflect honestly, stay united, and make sure to move forward again.
