Tuchel Criticizes England’s Performance Despite Victory

The England manager, Thomas Tuchel, expressed his dissatisfaction with his team’s performance after the narrow 1-0 victory against Andorra in a World Cup qualifying match. Despite securing three consecutive victories without conceding goals, Tuchel did not hesitate to point out the team’s shortcomings.

Harry Kane’s goal in the 50th minute was crucial in avoiding an adverse result against a team ranked 173rd in the world. Tuchel, after securing the three points that position England well in Group K, did not hide his dissatisfaction with the team’s performance.

We are not happy, of course. We completely lost momentum after the first 25 minutes and couldn’t get it back.

Tuchel added that the team lacked urgency, quality, and energy, especially in the final minutes of the match.

We finished in a period that was not good enough, with a lack of urgency, quality, and energy.

The coach also mentioned that the team’s attitude at the end of the match was not what was expected and highlighted the importance of improving for the next game.
Thomas Tuchel was unhappy with England's performance against Andorra.

England dominated the match with 83% possession against an opponent against whom they had scored 25 goals in six previous encounters without conceding any, but demonstrated a worrying lack of creativity.

Tuchel explained that, although the team had a good start, the energy and determination disappeared after the first 25 minutes.

Despite the criticism, Tuchel praised Noni Madueke, stating that he was the most dangerous player of the match and highlighted his “hunger” to fulfill the match plan. Captain Harry Kane also praised Madueke and emphasized the need for more players to take risks on the field.

England will face Senegal in a friendly in Nottingham on Tuesday.
