Tuchel Apologizes for Comments About Bellingham
Coach Thomas Tuchel has apologized for his previous statements about Jude Bellingham’s behavior, describing it as “repulsive” in a radio interview. After the friendly match in which England was defeated 3-1 by Senegal, Tuchel spoke extensively about the intensity and passion that Bellingham shows on the field.Tuchel clarified his words on Friday, after announcing the call-up for the World Cup qualifying matches against Andorra and Serbia, matches for which Bellingham will not be able to participate due to a shoulder injury. “I used that word unintentionally, to be very clear,” Tuchel affirmed. “There was no message. There was no hidden intention. I understood completely and I understand that it is my responsibility that I created those headlines. I am sorry for the discomfort and I am sorry for the discomfort caused by the headlines I created. Tuchel added that he should have been more careful with his words, especially when speaking in his second language and in a live interview, shortly after a defeat. “Once again, it’s my responsibility. I used the wrong word, I didn’t want to use this word, I used it, I created the discomfort, it’s my responsibility.” When asked if he had contacted Bellingham after the interview, Tuchel replied: “Of course, I contacted him immediately.” Bellingham is currently focused on his rehabilitation process, while the team concentrates on the upcoming matches against Andorra and Serbia. If he smiles, he wins everyone over, but sometimes you see the rage, the hunger, and the fire, and it comes out in a way that can be a bit repulsive.
