Problems are piling up at Real Madrid. The injuries of Vinícius Júnior and Lucas Vázquez are added to the possible loss of the LaLiga title and the imminent departure of Carlo Ancelotti to coach the Brazilian national team.

Both Vinícius and Vázquez were substituted during the Clásico against Barcelona, which ended in a 4-3 defeat. This result left Barcelona with a seven-point lead, with three matchdays remaining until the end of the season.

The Brazilian Football Confederation announced that Ancelotti will take over as national team coach from May 26, once the LaLiga season is over. Although Real Madrid has not yet made the coach’s departure official.

Following the tests carried out today on Vinícius Jr. by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a sprain in his left ankle. His recovery will be monitored.

In addition, Lucas Vázquez was reported to be suffering from an injury to the pectineus muscle in his left thigh.

Vinícius was key in the Clásico, providing two assists. He was substituted in the 88th minute after trying to continue playing with the injury. His place was taken by the young Víctor Muñoz.

Vázquez, whose error contributed to Barcelona’s fourth goal, was substituted in the 84th minute. His replacement was Endrick.

The defeat in the Clásico could define the LaLiga title this week. Real Madrid faces Mallorca on Wednesday, while Barcelona will play against Espanyol on Thursday.

If Madrid fails to beat Mallorca, Barcelona would be proclaimed champion. Madrid could only equal the leader’s points, but Barcelona has the advantage in the direct confrontation.

Sources indicate that Real Madrid was finalizing an agreement for Xabi Alonso to become the new coach of the club at the end of the season, replacing Ancelotti.

Alonso announced on Friday that he will leave Bayer Leverkusen after three successful seasons in the Bundesliga.
