The management of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in the world of football has presented notable contrasts. While their time at Wrexham has been synonymous with success and historic promotions, their involvement in the Colombian team La Equidad has had a different start. Reynolds and McElhenney, known for their successful management at Wrexham, where they have achieved a triple promotion and significant commercial growth, are part of a group of investors who acquired La Equidad this year. This investment group is led by Al Tylis, a real estate investor, and includes the participation of the actress Eva Longoria. Among the prominent names that have joined this new project at the Bogotá club are MLB pitcher Justin Verlander, Kate Upton, and former NBA player Shawn Marion. Unlike the rapid success experienced by Reynolds and McElhenney at Wrexham, the situation at La Equidad has been different, as the team finished in last place in the Colombian Primera A, with only three victories in the 20 matches played.

Who is La Equidad?

La Equidad, based in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, plays at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo, with a capacity of 10,000 spectators. However, the fans haven’t had much to celebrate this season.
  • Wrexham’s owners, including Justin Verlander, invest in La Equidad.

  • Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, praised for their investment in Wrexham.

The last game of the season, a resounding 4-0 victory over Deportivo Pereira, also marked the end of the club’s stage with its current name, traditional colors, and crest. A new image is expected to be announced in January 2026, according to President Nicolás Maya.

“Let’s experience together the closing of a story that defined Colombian soccer,” the club posted on social media before its last match under the name of La Equidad.

Founded in 1982, the club will undergo a significant image renovation.

Could La Equidad be the subject of a documentary similar to the one about Wrexham? A club in Mexico, in which Reynolds and McElhenney also invest, Nexaca, was the subject of a documentary broadcast by Hulu.

Will the same fate await La Equidad?
