Sergio Ramos Pays Tribute to Sergio Busquets

Former Real Madrid and Spanish national team captain Sergio Ramos has dedicated an emotional message to Inter Miami player Sergio Busquets, highlighting his quality as one of the most brilliant midfielders he has shared the field with. Busquets announced his retirement at the end of the 2025 Major League Soccer season. Despite being rivals at the club level, Ramos and Busquets were teammates in the Spanish national team that won the 2010 World Cup and the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.

“Busi, you are the definition of being exceptional while remaining a normal guy,” wrote Ramos, who currently plays for Monterrey in Mexico.

On his social media, Ramos added: “A rival most of the time, a teammate many others, you have always stood out for your class, vision and footballing quality, and for your humility and authenticity. Football loses one of the most brilliant midfielders I have played with, but you leave with the recognition and gratitude of all those who have accompanied you and all those who love this sport. Thanks for being a great player, a great teammate, and a great friend. I wish you all the best in your new stage.”

Trained in the lower categories of Barça, Busquets won nine LaLiga titles, three Champions Leagues and seven Copa del Rey titles before joining Inter Miami in 2023. Barcelona expressed on X: “The Club of your life. A legend in our Club. Thank you for all the football, Sergio!”.
