Christian Pulisic, a key figure for the United States national team, had to leave the field in the friendly against Australia before 30 minutes of play at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Tuesday.
The American star suffered a foul from behind by Jason Geria in the 28th minute, which required medical attention on the field before being substituted.
Geria received a yellow card for the foul.
After handing the captain’s armband to teammate Chris Richards, Pulisic was seen walking towards the locker room accompanied by the US national team staff.
Australia was leading the match 1-0 when Pulisic left the field, but the United States managed to tie the score shortly after with a goal by Haji Wright.
Pulisic’s participation in the match was in doubt due to an ankle injury suffered during training with the US national team before the match against Ecuador on Friday.
The AC Milan forward, Pulisic, came on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Ecuador, and was included in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting eleven for the friendly against Australia.
